John Deere Tractor Hire

JC Plant supplies a selection of operated or self-drive John Deere site tractors for hire. We are focused mainly towards oil refinery shutdowns, power station outages, the power distribution network and major construction projects across the UK. We continually improve our standards in order to keep abreast of regularly updating legislation, enabling us to provide systems which are safe, cost effective and easy to operate.

Site Tractor Hire with Spark Arrestor and Chalwyn valve:

The tractors are fitted with ATEX approved spark arrestors and Chalwyn valves, both of which conform to the current legislation and are supplied with supporting documentation.

Site Tractor and Driver Hire:

Our tractor drivers are exceptionally well trained on all types and combinations of tractors and trailers. This enables us to adapt quickly to different site requirements and ensures safety is always a priority. The drivers we provide are all multi-skilled and will therefore be able to operate other site equipment or just generally ‘muck in’ where needed.

Site Tractor and Trailer Safety:

Tractor, trailer and operator safety is an enormous problem on sites these days, it is overlooked and not policed properly. Simply having ‘Catagory F’ on your driving licence does not entitle someone to drive a tractor on site. In order to comply with PUWER, proper independent training is required for both the tractor AND the trailer. Check with your training provider that you are safe you use the equipment before getting in the cab. Remember, tractors and trailers are separate pieces of plant and some training providers may not cover both (i.e. CPCS A33 Agricultural Tractor). Driving a Tractor and Trailer on the road?: If a trailer is to be towed on the public highway and you aren’t connected to agriculture, horticulture or forestry operations, here are the rules that the DSA (Driving Standards Agency) say you MUST follow in order to be safe and road legal:

  1. The towing vehicle MUST be on white diesel (No exceptions).
  2. The towing vehicle MUST be constructed to not exceed 40kph (25mph). Above 40kph requires an MOT.
  3. Max. CGVW MUST NOT exceed 31,000kgs (towing vehicle, trailer, dolly and load).
  4. Accumulative braking on at least half of the trailer axles (Section 16 of the Construction and Use Regulations).
  5. Full road lighting (if used at night only).
  6. Flashing orange beacon on towing vehicle (if used on a duel carriageway only).
  7. The driver MUST hold a category C+E driving licence (HGV Class 1).
  8. ‘Agricultural Tractor’ taxation class for towing vehicle.
